Hello, everyone. Start the spring off with this free workshop from our friends at the EARTH center:

Master Gardeners present workshop on “Rethinking Tools for Common Garden Chores”

When you want the best results from your hard work, the right tools can make all the difference. If you need help choosing the right tools for your garden, Middlesex County’s Master Gardeners will be sharing their knowledge in an upcoming workshop.

“Rethinking Tools for Common Garden Chores” is scheduled to be held from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday, May 20 at the EARTH Center in Davidson’s Mill Pond Park, 42 Riva Ave. in South Brunswick.

The current market for gardening tools and supplies is a wide one, with countless options to choose from. This workshop will help you narrow down those options by demonstrating some of the garden tools and techniques that are preferred by our Master Gardeners. You will learn tips for weeding large areas, how to move compost or mulch without a wheelbarrow and much more. These techniques are especially useful for gardeners who are older or who are looking to reduce strain on their legs and back.

“When you go to a garden supply or hardware store you are bound to find yourself faced with a wide variety of tools,” said Middlesex County Freeholder Director Ronald G. Rios. “Let the Master Gardeners show you which ones can help make your job in the garden easier.”

“This program will feature many useful techniques for local gardeners,” said Freeholder Kenneth Armwood, Chair of the County’s Business Development and Education Committee.  “Learn how you can save time and money by selecting the right tools, and how they can help reduce strain on your legs and back.”

This program is free, but registration is required by May 17. To register for this event or for more information, contact the County Extension Office at 732-398-5262.
